The poetic heritage of Taras Shevchenko has long been an essential part of world culture.
His Kobzar, the quintessence of the artist's philosophy, has been published in many languages of the world.
The book introduces the translations of Shevchenko's poetry in English made by Vera Rich (1936—2009), winner of the Ivan Franko Translation Prize of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine, a British journalist, poet, and translator, one of the most active popularizers of Taras Shevchenko's works in the English-speaking world.
The introductory article and an essay on Vera Rich were written by Roksolana Zorivchak.
The English-language version of Kobzar will be of interest to all admirers of the literary legacy of the great Ukrainian poet.
